¡HOLA!
My name is Bárbara Acuña (Kaneb), and I am from Chile. I have been living in Colorado since 2015, where I have worked as a Spanish teacher. I have worked with adults and children through private institutions and in small groups.
I am the mother of two wonderful boys, and I teach them Spanish every day. I enjoy seeing how they learn both languages in a fun way, and I love listening to them as they say words in both languages, recognize the differences, and sometimes mix the languages.
I am proud to be bilingual, and I know that if you'd like to become one or start your kids on their second language learning journey, I can help you both.
I love Colorado and its outdoors. I enjoy every season with all that it brings. My favorite season, like many Coloradans, is fall, and I love food and cats.
My Teaching Style
For me, teaching Spanish is more than just sharing a language — it’s about opening doors to new cultures, experiences, and connections.
Since 2015, I’ve had the joy of guiding both adults and children on their learning journey, first as a teacher at a Spanish language school and later as an independent instructor.
Along the way, I collaborated on creating a beginner-friendly Spanish workbook, a resource I still use in my classes today. It’s based on the BPL Language System methodology, a practical and engaging approach that has proven adequate time and again in turning memory into meaningful, lasting learning.
In my classes, I strive to create a friendly, supportive, and motivating environment where every student feels confident and encouraged to reach their Spanish goals.
