Private Lessons & Group Lessons

I’m a busy professional. What happens if I miss a class? We know life happens! While consistency is key to language learning, we offer flexible scheduling for private sessions. For group classes, we provide the lesson materials so you can stay caught up for the following week.

How long will it take me to become fluent? Fluency is a journey, not a destination! However, most of our students feel a significant boost in "conversational confidence" within the first 10 to 18 weeks consistently studying once a week (at least), you will be forming your own phrases and questions, and will be able to understand 85% of a conversation when listening to a real Spanish speaker. Our goal is to get you bilingual by your 24th month, with a couple of well-deserved breaks in between.

What is best, a group setting or private tutoring?
That depends. If you are friendly and enjoy meeting new people, your best option is a group setting. This also depends on your budget. A Spanish group class is less expensive.

If you're more of an extroverted learner, have your own goals, and are ready to start tomorrow, we suggest private tutoring so we can focus on what you want to study. It's a little bit more expensive, but you will learn at your own pace and have 100% attention and support from your teacher/friend.

What makes the Spanish Academy of the Rockies different from an app like Duolingo? Apps are great for vocabulary, but they can’t talk back to you. We focus on interactive immersion. Our students learn to navigate real-life social cues, accents, and the "flow" of conversation that only a live teacher and a peer group can provide.

Am I too old to learn? Many adults fear their brains aren't "spongy" enough anymore, but research shows adults can actually learn deliberately and faster because they understand grammar, logic, and context better than children.

Where are the classes held? We offer a mix of in-person sessions at the comfort of your home office or your closest library. We also offer convenient virtual options for those who prefer to learn from home.

When can I start? If you decide to take private lessons, you can set the starting date. If you would like a group setting, we open a beginner group every season, or you can start your own group with friends or family and start whenever you want to.

Can I switch from a group class to private tutoring later? Absolutely. As your goals change, we can transition you to a 1-on-1 format to focus on specific needs, such as business Spanish, travel prep, or academic testing.
